College Football Betting – Missed Field Goals Have Not Been Forgotten In Alabama
Posted December 15, 2011 – 7:56 pm in: Sports NewsThe one thing that nobody seems to be talking about ahead of the SEC rematch between the top-ranked LSU Tigers and No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide is what made the biggest difference in the first meeting between these teams. While LSU did come out on top on the road at Tuscaloosa, they only did so after barely escaping regulation where the Crimson Tide missed four of their six field goal attempts, which kept Alabama from breaking away in that sports betting contest. There is no guarantee that their kicking will be better when they meet in the BCS Championship game, but considering their numbers on the year and the way in which they let their team down, it is reasonable to think that the kickers for the Crimson Tide will be better.
While running back Trent Richardson will likely get a ton of carries once again for Alabama, head coach Nick Saban will not be afraid to turn to quarterback AJ McCarron, who threw for 199 yards in their first NCAA football meeting, which was more than double what the quarterback tandem for LSU was able to put up. Given how close the first game was, and that the Tide and Tigers own the first and second ranked defenses respectively, it won’t be a surprise if this game is a low-scoring as the first meeting. Just don’t expect Alabama to miss four field goals to lose in regulation, as making those points could result in them becoming BCS national champions regardless of whether they are considered the favorites according to the pay head bookies heading in to this game.
