Breeders Cup Betting – Havre de Grace Has Chance To Make History At Classic

Posted November 3, 2011 – 12:56 pm in: Sports News

In one of the few sports that actually places males against females in direct competition, it is always incredible when the supposedly weaker sex comes through with big wins. That has been the case once again all of this year with European horse Havre de Grace, which could be on its way to winning the Horse of the Year honors for 2011. It wouldn’t be the first time a filly has won the pay head award. In fact, a female has won that honor in consecutive years, and if it happens again with Havre de Grace it will mark the first time in US racing history that that a female has won Horse of the Year three straight times.

While it would seem highly unlikely that a filly win that honor in three straight years, sports betting circumstances make for it to be a strong possibility to happen with Havre de Grace listed at 3-to-1 behind favorite Uncle Mo at 5-to-2. The Breeders Cup Classic is the richest race in North America, and a win would guarantee that Havre de Grace captures HOY honors. Similar to both Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra, Havre de Grace ranks as one of the more muscular horses in the sport regardless of gender, and that elite physique has led to the horse dominating overseas. While Uncle Mo’s comeback has been an incredible story, there would be nothing more intriguing than Havre de Grace capping off an outstanding intertops season with the biggest win of them all and winning Horse of the Year honors.
