NHL Betting – New Look Flyers On Track For Another Shot At Stanley Cup

Less than two sports betting years after advancing to the Stanley Cup finals as Eastern conference champions, the Philadelphia Flyers underwent the type of complete makeover that is usually reserved for franchises that are in the midst of extended playoff droughts. General manager Paul Holmgren put his stamp on the club by shipping out team captain Mike Richards and another top offensive threat in Jeff Carter, shocking the hockey world by severing ties with two players that were once considered unmovable. Nobody could projected the moves that Holmgren made, and even less conceivable at the time was that the NHL team could be better without them. That has all changed.

The Flyers were able to acquire a couple of key pay head pieces in return with the additions of wingers Jacub Voracek and Wayne Simmonds up front, as well as young center Brayden Schenn, who was recently called up to the big team after tearing it up in the AHL. With the extra money the team had freed up, Philadelphia was able to sign franchise goaltender Ilya Bryzagalov, perhaps the missing piece the team needed when they fell to the Chicago Blackhawks in the seventh game of the Stanley Cup finals, as well as veteran winger Jaromir Jagr. The Flyers are a blend of size and strength built for postseason success, with a young core that should be able to carry the team through the next decade. Nobody could have thought at the time that the team would be better without Richards and Carter, but it now appears as though the team is on the way to another shot at the Stanley Cup.
