Online Sports Betting – BetIslands Have All Of The Basics That Players Look For

Posted January 27, 2012 – 12:22 pm in: Sports News

With so many new sports betting destinations available across the web, it can be difficult to find one with a trusted enough reputation to use regardless of how cool its concept is and how good the actual display of the site appears. That is what makes the sportsbook reviews so useful, even though they may not cover every one of the new sites that is available. One of the newer sportsbooks available is the BetIslands, which is also quickly becoming one of the most reliable and better sites as well. While they may not have all of the newer options that more senior sportsbook sites have already come up with, they offer all of the betting options that most sites have, and provide excellent services to their customers.

Known for their excellent payouts, great customer service, and a notable juice line for football of just minus-107 compared to the usual minimum of minus-110 that most other pay head sites use. BetIslands doesn’t worry as much about appearance and reaching out to its players in terms of trying to capture their attention and influence them to buy in to the hype of some of the other sportsbooks, but what it does offer is a reputable site that will make sure that the best lines are available with easy deposit and withdrawal systems as well as excellent customer service. Live in-game betting is perhaps the lone aspect that the BetIslands site will need to add to be complete, but if that isn’t your thing, then it makes sense to give BetIslands a shot today.

Online Sports Betting – Understanding How The Reverse Bet Works

Posted January 12, 2012 – 7:51 pm in: Sports News

With the development of live sports betting, teaser betting, and reverse bets, it could become hard to get a firm understanding of which option is best to use given the sport and scenario. With in-game betting as easy to understand as knowing it means wagering on a sport while it is being played, and teaser betting simply adding points to one side of a spread or another at a cost, reverse bets could be a little more complicated. Reverse bets are a type of bet that most sportsbooks offer, but they are not as popular as the other two because they are a little more difficult to understand. A reverse bet is essentially just two “if” bets that have a dependency on one another to determine the outcome of the money that could be made.

When it comes to reverse bets, the easiest way to break it down is to consider that it closely resembles an NFL parlay, where at least two wagers are played in conjunction with one another and a dependency on eachother to come through. However, unlike in a parlay when both wagers have to win in order to avoid a loss, the same cannot be said about the reverse bet. The difference is that with the reverse bet, as long as you win the first wager you can get money back. For example, if you place a three-team reverse wager, then as long as you get the first bet right, you will be able to get some money back even if the second two lose. If you get the first two right, you will get more money back, which will cover the loss of a third bet. The one key to the reverse bet however is that if the first bet doesn’t win, then the following two are cancelled out and you lose. The concept is easy to understand once you jump in to the Betonline action, and it makes sense to try it out once or twice to get a handle of how it works.

Online Sports Betting – Stay Away From Topbet For The Time Being

Posted December 29, 2011 – 8:09 pm in: Sports News

Determining which sites are the most suited for the needs of the individual players can be among the toughest parts of getting going online when it comes to sports betting, but the fact of the matter is that far too often players just in right away without actually taking a look at what they are signing up for. While missing out on some of the top bonuses and lines out there is a big enough reason for regret, nothing is worse than when things go wrong from a financial perspective, and the money that you made disappears because of problems that you are not accountable for. One site that has been labeled with a caution by players is the site “topbet”, which has received a ton of complaints of late. While they may have already made the necessary corrections to turn things around, the fact of the matter is that there are already a ton of alternative options out there that make sense to take advantage with.

Taking a quick look at the sportsbook reviews responses to the topbet site, it is clear that the awful payout track record is a major red flag, as a ton of players have complained about the extended time periods it has taken for payouts to be made, or for them never reaching their intended destination altogether. These problems are among the biggest reasons for concerns regardless of their NFL lines or anything else because under these circumstances even winning is losing. Stay away for now, it only makes sense to.

College Football Betting – Missed Field Goals Have Not Been Forgotten In Alabama

Posted December 15, 2011 – 7:56 pm in: Sports News

The one thing that nobody seems to be talking about ahead of the SEC rematch between the top-ranked LSU Tigers and No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide is what made the biggest difference in the first meeting between these teams. While LSU did come out on top on the road at Tuscaloosa, they only did so after barely escaping regulation where the Crimson Tide missed four of their six field goal attempts, which kept Alabama from breaking away in that sports betting contest. There is no guarantee that their kicking will be better when they meet in the BCS Championship game, but considering their numbers on the year and the way in which they let their team down, it is reasonable to think that the kickers for the Crimson Tide will be better.

While running back Trent Richardson will likely get a ton of carries once again for Alabama, head coach Nick Saban will not be afraid to turn to quarterback AJ McCarron, who threw for 199 yards in their first NCAA football meeting, which was more than double what the quarterback tandem for LSU was able to put up. Given how close the first game was, and that the Tide and Tigers own the first and second ranked defenses respectively, it won’t be a surprise if this game is a low-scoring as the first meeting. Just don’t expect Alabama to miss four field goals to lose in regulation, as making those points could result in them becoming BCS national champions regardless of whether they are considered the favorites according to the pay head bookies heading in to this game.

College Football Betting – Richardson Deserves Heisman Trophy This Season

Posted December 1, 2011 – 7:47 pm in: Sports News

If recent history is any indication, then Alabama Crimson Tide running back Trent Richardson could very well bring home the Heisman trophy this season. While the sports betting odds projected Stanford Cardinal quarterback Andrew Luck to have the best shot at the honor for most of the year, Richardson has emerged as one of the elite stars at the college level, and his talent and role with one of the top programs in the country should make him a lock to win the award.

Considering that the Heisman trophy has gone to the best player on the best team in the nation over the years, Richardson has an excellent chance to be next in line as he has been the focal point for an offense of a team with national title aspirations. Richardson ranks fourth in the country with 1,583 rushing yards and unlike the three players ranked ahead of him, he has performed to that level in the SEC, where he has consistently faced some of the top defenses at that level according to the pay head numbers. Richardson’s 20 touchdowns have paced the Crimson Tide attack, and with Alabama seemingly destined for a rematch with the No. 1 LSU Tigers in the BCS national title game, they will need an outstanding effort from their star running back if they are going to come out on the right side of that rematch. While other players across the country have put up solid numbers this NCAA football season, they haven’t done it in the SEC, and they haven’t helped their team earn a spot in the national title game.

College Football Betting – Crimson Tide Deserve Their Shot

Posted November 17, 2011 – 8:11 pm in: Sports News

With the college football bowl season right around the corner, all eyes will be on the top of the national rankings, and the team that are in play to have an impact in the BCS. While last weekend’s games provided another shakeup with the reigning Pac-12 champion Oregon Ducks making their move all the way up to No. 4 with a huge upset win over the Stanford Cardinal, there is still pay head time for things to change.

If the regular season ended today, then it would be the No. 1 LSU Tigers and No. 2 Oklahoma State Cowboys meeting for the national championship, an underwhelming sports betting matchup to say the least. The Tigers have taken care of six nationally ranked opponents including both the Ducks and No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide, and there is no doubt that they should be there in the BCS national title game at the end of the year. The same cannot be said about the Cowboys however, who have just three wins over ranked opponents and another game left against the No. 5 Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners could make the jump up to two with a win over their NCAA football in-state rivals, but that would be a slap in the face to a Crimson Tide team that forced LSU in to overtime in a game that really could have gone either the way. Alabama deserves another shot at the Tigers, and it should come in the BCS national title game.

Breeders Cup Betting – Havre de Grace Has Chance To Make History At Classic

Posted November 3, 2011 – 12:56 pm in: Sports News

In one of the few sports that actually places males against females in direct competition, it is always incredible when the supposedly weaker sex comes through with big wins. That has been the case once again all of this year with European horse Havre de Grace, which could be on its way to winning the Horse of the Year honors for 2011. It wouldn’t be the first time a filly has won the pay head award. In fact, a female has won that honor in consecutive years, and if it happens again with Havre de Grace it will mark the first time in US racing history that that a female has won Horse of the Year three straight times.

While it would seem highly unlikely that a filly win that honor in three straight years, sports betting circumstances make for it to be a strong possibility to happen with Havre de Grace listed at 3-to-1 behind favorite Uncle Mo at 5-to-2. The Breeders Cup Classic is the richest race in North America, and a win would guarantee that Havre de Grace captures HOY honors. Similar to both Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra, Havre de Grace ranks as one of the more muscular horses in the sport regardless of gender, and that elite physique has led to the horse dominating overseas. While Uncle Mo’s comeback has been an incredible story, there would be nothing more intriguing than Havre de Grace capping off an outstanding intertops season with the biggest win of them all and winning Horse of the Year honors.

NHL Betting – New Look Flyers On Track For Another Shot At Stanley Cup

Posted October 20, 2011 – 1:21 pm in: Sports News

Less than two sports betting years after advancing to the Stanley Cup finals as Eastern conference champions, the Philadelphia Flyers underwent the type of complete makeover that is usually reserved for franchises that are in the midst of extended playoff droughts. General manager Paul Holmgren put his stamp on the club by shipping out team captain Mike Richards and another top offensive threat in Jeff Carter, shocking the hockey world by severing ties with two players that were once considered unmovable. Nobody could projected the moves that Holmgren made, and even less conceivable at the time was that the NHL team could be better without them. That has all changed.

The Flyers were able to acquire a couple of key pay head pieces in return with the additions of wingers Jacub Voracek and Wayne Simmonds up front, as well as young center Brayden Schenn, who was recently called up to the big team after tearing it up in the AHL. With the extra money the team had freed up, Philadelphia was able to sign franchise goaltender Ilya Bryzagalov, perhaps the missing piece the team needed when they fell to the Chicago Blackhawks in the seventh game of the Stanley Cup finals, as well as veteran winger Jaromir Jagr. The Flyers are a blend of size and strength built for postseason success, with a young core that should be able to carry the team through the next decade. Nobody could have thought at the time that the team would be better without Richards and Carter, but it now appears as though the team is on the way to another shot at the Stanley Cup.

NFL Betting – Be Wary Of Division Rivalries On Any Given Sunday

Posted October 6, 2011 – 12:27 pm in: Sportsbooks

Every NFL season it happens, and every NFL season the general public delivers the same surprised reaction. Perhaps those that don’t study their history are doomed to repeat it after all, so going off the board for NFL trends heading in to week five of the regular season, this is one of the most important factors to consider heading in to the weekend action: Do not assume that the better team will always come out in division games. The fact that the Buffalo Bills beat the New England Patriots, or that the Seattle Seahawks beat the Arizona Cardinals are excellent stories, but for those that have paid close attention, they shouldn’t be considered major sports betting surprises. The rule is that whenever there are two teams from the same division clash, there are no guarantees.

Heading in to week five of the NFL regular season, there are a couple of games that this rule will apply to. The New Orleans Saints head to Carolina to take on Cam Newton and the Panthers with three straight wins under their belt, but in the second of a season-high three-game road trip they could be caught looking ahead to next week’s first place showdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Meanwhile, the New England Patriots are favored against the New York Jets with the latter looking pretty desperate after consecutive losses, while the Detroit Lions return to Monday Night Football with a visit from the Chicago Bears. All three of these pay per head games represent the same type of contest that many will say that they are surprised about if the favorite loses, but as in the case with division rivalries, there is no guarantee that the consensus pick will come out on top against the spread.

NFL Betting – Brees, Saints Still Far Away From An Extension

Posted September 8, 2011 – 7:52 pm in: Sportsbooks

The New Orleans Saints will open the 2011-12 NFL betting lines season against the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers on Thursday night, but regardless of how they perform in that game, there will still be a pressing question mark lingering over the team this season. The Saints will not have a new contract for their franchise quarterback Drew Brees before the start of the season, as both sides remain far apart on a new deal. Brees has admitted that his agent is in talks with the club but that they are not any closer to getting a long-term extension done, and given the way that the Pro Bowl quarterback has helped turn the franchise around, that has to be somewhat shocking.

Before Brees joined the Saints back in 2006, the Saints had a .403 all-time winning percentage, with just a single sports betting playoff win. New Orleans had never witnessed a quarterback throw for 4,000 yards in their own jersey, and the team had never led the league in offense. That all changed with the arrival of Brees however, as the Saints’ win percentage has spiked to .613 since he joined the team, with four playoff wins, five 4,000 yard seasons, and of course most importantly, a Super Bowl victory in 2009. Brees and the Saints have led the NFL in offense in three of his four seasons, and he has become a beloved figure in and around the fishing community. Brees has emerged as a leader and a true character person, and it has to be a surprise that he and the team are still far apart on a new deal.
